int-sharp-comp — image compressor

"internal sharp.js image compressor" A blazing-fast image compression CLI that auto-discovers images in framework projects, generates compress.config, tracks compress.log, and replaces originals in place.

Problem

Developer pipelines ship bloated images — manually compressing every asset across src/assets, public and framework directories is slow, repetitive, and easy to forget.

My Role

Designed, built, and published the tool end to end — CLI design, sharp-based compression pipeline, auto-discovery, config/log tracking, and npm packaging.

Technology/Approach

Built as an ESM Node.js CLI (>=18) using sharp for encoding, fast-glob for image discovery, commander for flags, p-limit for concurrency, and cli-progress for output — with replace mode, dry-run, config-change detection, and lossless/effort options.

Result

A single `npx int-sharp-comp` command that discovers, compresses (JPEG/PNG/WebP/AVIF/GIF/TIFF/HEIC/JXL), tracks progress in compress.log, and only re-encodes when configs change.
